The average price of a pint of stout in an Irish bar was 6.326 euro in June 2026. A pint of lager was 6.754 euro and a pint of cider 6.851 euro. The short fare is 1.50 euro, and a young adult aged 19 to 25 or a student pays 1.00 euro and 0.75 euro respectively. The daily cap is 6.00 euro for an adult and 3.00 euro for a young adult or student, and the weekly cap is 24.00 euro and 12.00 euro. Once you reach the cap, no further charges apply for the rest of the day or week, and the capping is automatic.
Outside Dublin
City bus fares with a Leap Card are 1.35 euro for an adult in Galway, Limerick and Waterford, 1.70 euro in Cork, and 1.50 euro in the medium towns including Drogheda, Athlone, Sligo, Navan and Carlow. Children under five travel free. Note that the official fares page is not fully consistent on provincial single fares, so check the figure for your own route on the day.
Taxis are licensed vehicles, not a gig marketplace
FREE NOW, Uber and Bolt all operate in Ireland, and all of them dispatch licensed taxis. Anyone driving passengers for payment here has to be licensed by the National Transport Authority under the Small Public Service Vehicle regime, one licence for the car and another for the person at the wheel. The practical consequence for a party is supply: at closing time you are competing for a licensed fleet, not for an open pool of drivers. Book ahead or plan the last bus.
